Cinema Tokio 1912

A unique location with a rich cultural past. The former cinema is located within a stone’s throw from the Royal Museum of Fine Arts, right in the middle of the trendy South of Antwerp.
The building dates from 1912 and has always had owners with a cultural drive.
The space, 500 m2 large, still breathes the ambiance of the long gone cinema ‘Artis’,
once referred to as ‘the most beautiful theatre of Antwerp'.
In the 80's the spiritual father of Suske and Wiske, Willy Vandersteen, dreamt of a symbiosis of children’s films,
exhibitions and dinners for the venue.
In the 90's Het Toneelhuis launched its Studio Tokio here for young and upcoming talent.
Since 2006 the hall is partially occupied by auctioneers Bernaerts to organize special exhibitions.
